We are currently enrolling for 2014 - 2015 school year

Our philosophy is that children learn through play and exploration and that this learning is a fundamental need of the young child. We further believe that parents can support this learning through positive reinforcement, encouragement and understanding, and that parent education is a key element in providing this support.

Mill Creek Cooperative Preschool (MCCP) was founded in 1988 by four moms looking for more options in the Mill Creek area. They worked with Edmonds Community College with which our school is now affiliated. MCCP started out as one multiple age group of 3 to 5 year olds. Shortly after that, separate 3/4's and 4/5's classes were created. The 2/3's class was started in 1991.

Our Purpose
-To provide a supervised and directed learning group experience for both parents and children while having fun
-To provide an opportunity for parents to work with and observe their children in age-appropriate, teacher-guided preschool activities
-To assist in the development of our children's emotional, physical and cognitive abilities by exposing them to a variety of interactive play situations with other children and adults

We Believe That Parents
-Are the principal and primary teachers of their children
-Benefit from learning new skills to assist them with problem-solving and other parenting issues in an educational environment
-Deserve support and understanding from their peers

 We Believe That Children
-Learn through self-directed free play in a developmentally appropriate environment
-Flourish in a safe and nurturing environment
-Deserve acceptance without judgment
-Deserve guidance without domination
-Deserve freedom within limits

We Will Encourage
-Your child to understand and cope with his/her own confusing emotional reactions while feeling cared for and supported
-Your child to accept responsibility for his/her own actions and feel satisfaction for a job well done without fear or blame or recrimination for inappropriate actions
-Your child to accept authority without inhibition of his/her own innate creativity

Your child needs to love and to be loved; he/she needs the feeling of belonging which comes from affection freely given and received, from order, repetition and regularity.

Other cooperative preschools affiliated with Edmonds Community College can be found at Edmonds Community College Family Life Education Department.
